Todd Mclellan
Raised by a carpenter and an electronic technician, Todd Mclellan became fond of the hands-on approach. He cultivated his passion for photography at the Alberta College of Art and Design, and in 2002 moved to Toronto for the reaping. Inspired by many great image-makers, he has a fascination with visuals that combine different disciplines. Todd enjoys creating his visuals in studio and on location.
Analysis 1
This Photo is very good as Mclellan has used a series of unorthodox objects. Also they are all evenly spaced apart and he has created a rectangular shape out of them. In terms of photography, the lighting/exposure is good and all of the items are in focus.
Jim Golden
An award-winning photographer specializing in still life and products, Jim brings an artist's eye and an enthusiast's passion to his work. He strives to capture the pared-down essence of his subjects, rather than impose a false sense of beauty upon them. The viewer is invited to enjoy an often-inanimate object for its stark simplicity or quiet quality.
Analysis 1
This picture is creative in how he has took apart cameras and methodically positioned them.
Analysis 2
I like how Jim Golden has used colours in this photo as it brings more attention to the photo because it is more aesthetically pleasing than other photos.
My Ideas
Plan 1
For my first shoot i would like to recreate Todd Mclellan's Dismantled Pen picture.
My Worst Picture
This is my worst photo because the parts are too close together. Also, the poor lighting makes the equipment less noticeable. Additionally, the grey background doesn't contrast well with the blue pen. Furthermore, the focus isn't perfect and image was taken from too high above the equipment.
My Best Picture
This is my best photo as the blue pen contrasts brilliantly with the red background. Also, the parts are positioned well. Furthermore, the POV that the picture is taken from allows the viewer to get a close look at the collection. Finally, the whole image is in focus with appropriate lighting.
Plan 2
For my Shoot 2 i would like to expand on my first shoot and get a collection of stationery
My Worst Picture
I think this is my worst picture because it is out of focus. Also, the angle doesn't allow the viewer to have a good perspective of the whole collection.
My Best Picture
This is my best picture as the birds-eye view angle allows the viewer to see the collection as a whole. Also, the whole picture is in focus and the use of the dark background allows the stationery to stand out.
Shoot 3
For this shoot I used alphabet stamps in a collection
My Worst Picture
This is my worst image because i don't like the angle and some of the stamps aren't included in the photo. Also, the shadows from the pieces make the ones beside them darker.
My Best Picture
This is my best picture because I really like the angle it is taken from. Also, the focal point is in the bottom right and the focus gets gradually worse as you go further back, allowing the coloured pieces at the bottom to stand out more
